Voice is any deviation in pitch, intensity, or quality of the voice which consistently interferes with communication. Voice can be described as sounding “raspy, hoarse, and/or nasal”. It is important to seek an Ear Nose and Throat (ENT) doctor if you have any concerns prior to a Speech Pathologist. A speech pathologist can always refer you to an ENT, but it is the specialty of an ENT to rule out structural/anatomical abnormalities.
